The Computer Centre

The computer centre is located within the Resource for Centre for People with Disabilities, and it has additional specialized equipment and software progrrammes. The computer centre offers PWD’s new means of communication, and creates new opportunities for employment and communication.

The specialized equipment and software has came from an Austrian NGO called, “Life Tool”. It has been developed on the basis of long term practical experience working with PWD’s as well as through research on their work and needs while using computers.

This kind of equipment enables PWD’s to use computers no matter what kind or degree of disability they have.

The Computer Centre offers:

  • Assistive technologies enabling PWD’s to use computers more easily, aimed at better accessibility to information.

  • Individual work with beneficiaries.

  • Speech technology for persons with visual impairment (in Serbian).

  • Provision of information to students of Novi Sad University and all interested in Assistive technologies and all its possibilities.

Activities of Computer Centre:

  • Free of charge computer courses and advanced training courses for PWD’s and representatives of PWD’s organizations and institutions;

  • Windows XP, Word, Excel, Corel, Photoshop, Internet, Mail, web Design;

  • Support of beneficiaries by involving them as course leaders – peer education;

  • Development of new ideas (software and hardware) through constant monitoring of beneficiaries while using computers; and
